Taking things a day at a time

Where were you when...

...Michael Jackson died?

That is gonna be one of those questions that people will ask later down in life, years later, thinking back on that tragic day.

After Michael, Ed McMahon, and Farah Fawcett's deaths, it got me thinking of those events that everybody remember. You know, like Pearl Harbor, or the assassination of JFK? I remember my mom and dad both told me how old they were and what they were doing when they heard the news about JFK.

In my short life so far, I can think of a few of those instances that I'll remember and be able to tell people about:
-September 11, 2001
-Heath Ledger's death after the completion of Dark Knight
-New Year's Eve 1999
-Obama elected as the first black President of the U.S.
-Christopher "Superman" Reeves passing
-The ending of the lawsuit against Kamehameha Schools and the Bishop Estates, challenging the admissions policy up at the 9th Circuit Court in D.C.

I wonder how many of these "events" I'll be able to talk about when I'm older.

And since I'm kinda on the topic, I found out that the (now formerly) oldest man passed away on my birthday last week. Tomoji Tanabe died on June 19, 2009 at the age of 113 years and 274 days. Incredible, huh?

-As far as MJ's death, I was at work.
-Sept. 11 I was just getting up for school--I watched the second tower fall :[
-I was in my apt. in Legacy and Kelly called me to the living room and we watched CNN.
-I was huddled in my living room with my fam for NYE 99
-I was at rehearsal when Obama was elected. But I was in my room watching the inauguration.
-I was flipping the channels when I saw the headline about Christopher Reeves.

Not that you needed to know all of that, but I figured I'd share.

That's crazy about the formerly oldest man alive--I can't imagine what it'd be like to live through so much history.

yeah...i was in this pub called Tron in Edinburgh when Heath Ledger died. I'll never forget that.
When Obama was elected, I was in my room by myself in HP A202, and I cried.
When MJ died, I was here, at my brother's house.
September 11th, i was in class when that happened. 9th grade global history. they called down so many kids to the office, who had family involved in some way (or whose parents were worried and wanted to take their kids home)
