HOLY ZEUS!

Song of the day: "Love You I Do" by Jennifer Hudson

Ironic, that the song of the day is what it is. It being Valentine's Day and all.

BUT NO!!! More importantly, today was/still is: CHINESE NEW YEAR'S!!!! KUNG HEI FAT CHOI!!! It's the year of the Tiger!

I should burn my old red paper. The red paper usually has sayings and inspirational phrases. This is what they look like:

Usually you put them up by your doorway of your house or bedroom, the portals of energy and spirits. Traditionally you're suppose to burn the past year's paper, but it's not like I can just light them up and burn it wherever. But I should do that. Even though I'm not Chinese, I don't have to be to believe and participate in their traditions.

We saw Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. It was pretty good, I have to say. I liked Brandon Jackson from his earlier movies (Tropic Thunder, Roll Bounce) and I'd only seen Logan Lerman once before (Hoot) but he held his own in the lead role in this movie. I didn't read the books, but Mika did, and she said they more-or-less stuck to how it was in the books. There were a handful of things that were totally off, though, apparently. As a movie, I think it's pretty entertaining. Kept me laughing and intrigued the whole time.

What I don't like is that people going to see movies like this, afterward they're going to go off thinking they know everything about Greek mythology and whatnot. Kinda like this new remake of the Robin Hood story, people are gonna go and Google Robin Hood and act like they know everything about it. Ugh.

All right. So my friends that use Xanga, it seems like all they write about is guys, and their guy friends who they flirt with and wonder if there's anything there and about hot dudes in their classes or that pass them every Thursday between class. I really can't stand that. Literally, in the past 2 weeks, almost every single one of their entries has been about guys. It's really sad if that's the only thing they have to talk about and want to share. There are so many other things worth talking about, that, I don't even want to read their blogs anymore. >_<>

Sing Me A Song Sunday
"Dream Like New York" by Tyrone Well

The first time I heard Tyrone was when my friend Tiana played his song "Dream Like New York." She was planning on choreographing that for her senior year, as the senior number. It was really fitting for Tiana as well as the other dancers in her grade. Then freshman year during Wildstock? No, is that what it was even called? I have no clue. I just remember it was hot as balls and people were always on the lawn in front of Grover. Anyways, that's when Tyrone came to Linfield, and I got to hear more of his music. He's got a real blues-ey, acoustic vibe going with his music that I really like.

OHHH! They just had a segment on the news about the Black Pearl from the Pirate's movies. It just arrived here on O`ahu today. Filming begins this summerrrr! Dude. I'd kill to be an extra in that movie! That'd be so pimp. I wanna fan-stalk Johnny when he's here. Not in an attractive way like everyone else; c'mon, he's old enough to be my dad. I just love that guy, he's such a talented actor who is so committed to each role and character.

Happy Chinese New Year to you, Miss Zaida :)

When you mentioned burning the red paper, it made me think of this time when I used Flying Wish Paper. I don't know if you've heard of it, but it's really cool. You write a wish on it, then you light it on fire and, after a moment, it flies into the air. It's awesome.

I've been wondering about Percy Jackson--if it was going to be any good or not. But, I'm glad to hear it's good. When I saw the preview it looked like something I might want to see at some point.

When people talk about the same thing all the time it gets kind of boring (which is one of the main reasons why I decided to do themed blogs, I felt repetitive, haha). But it gets especially boring when girls talk about guys all the time. :/

Dream Like New York is probably my favorite Tyrone Wells song! Definitely in the top 3. His voice is so great. I'm not really a concert person, but I really enjoyed both times I saw him on campus. I think because the atmosphere was so chill. But yeah, I'm going to go listen to that song now :)

That's so awesome that they're filming there! Just recently, in the local paper, there was an article about 10 Things and its 10th anniversary. And it was talking about how the cast went around Tacoma and loved being here. Andrew Keegan even went on a ride along with a police officer. Apparently because it's the 10th anniversary edition there's all kinds of special features, so I think, even though I have it already, I'm going to buy it again. I've always found it lame that there weren't any special features on the first DVD version.

I love the movie, but part of me is sad every time I watch it because it's supposed to be in Seattle, though the school and the houses were all in Tacoma. Just a couple scenes were in Seattle. But, I guess on the special features the actors talk a ton about how they love Tacoma, and even mention the "Tacoma Aroma". Haha. So, I'm excited to get it.

But yeah, enough of that. If you have any sightings of Mr. Depp I fully expect you to brag about it!! And maybe if you hang around the set enough, you'll get pulled in to be an extra :)

At the end of that part about you getting pulled on to be an extra I thought about saying "It could happen." And it made me think of JP from Angels in the Outfield and also a very young JGL :)

Koreans totally stole the whole New Year thing from the Chinese. It's a little pathetic how Korea is always stealing traditions and whatnot from China and Japan and trying to say that THEY invented it!! So Stupid. They think they are the best thing since sliced toast!
That was my Korean New Year rant. Also, I love Koreans, so...no offense to anyone. I'm just saying.

you should totally stalk Johnny! I would definitely stalk him and Keira Knightley. You can talk about her being stupid or skinny or whatever all you want (the general you, not actually you), but she is an awesome actress. Have you seen the Duchess? That movie was so freakin' good. Just throwing that out there. It would be so cool to be an extra in pirates. But if I was an extra, I'd like to be a filthy pirate wench. a female one, so that it would be a really ugly pirate wench :)
